He is a true pleasure to coach. Corey had a great week of work this week, bumping up to 189 pounds from his usual 171 pound weight class to help us win a league dual against Renton, then winning the next night against Kennedy to help us remain undefeated in league. If the two league wins were not enough, Corey also placed 2nd at the Renton tournament wrestling the best I have seen him wrestle in the three years. Week 8 - January 8th - 13thCarolann WiwelCarolann has been a great addition to this years team. She has been a leader of the inaugural girls team. She works extremely hard at practice, has a great attitude and an intense desire to win. This past weekend she won had her first win over a male wrestler at the Bonney Lake Classic. Week 7 - January 1st - 6thBrian YorozuBrian had a good week placing 5th at the Rainshadow tournament. He went 3-2 at the tournament winning his last match by fall over a wrestler that had beaten him earlier in the tournament. Week 6 - December 17th - December 22ndKevin ColbernKevin had a great week this week winning all 3 of his matches at the Yelm tournament to bring his season record to 12-4. Kevin's leadership and work ethic have had a huge impact on the teams success so far this year. Chris D'AmicoChirs went 3-0 at the freshman tournament this past week. Bringing his season record to 5-2. In his first year of wrestling Chris has been a quick study and has quickly established himself as one of the top 103 pounders in the league. Week 5 - December 11th - December 16thPatrick FlemingPatrick has been one of the team’s leaders all season. His work ethic and commitment set the example for others. Patrick had a great week winning the Shelton Invite winning all 3 of his matches by fall. Shawn McGlynnShawn went 2-1 last weekend at the FOSS invitational. His strong work ethic and athletic ability has allowed him to be successful so far this season despite it being his first year of wrestling. Shawn has been and continues to be an important member of this year’s team. Week 4 - December 4th - December 9thCesar LunaCesar had a great week going 4-1 on the week and placing 3rd at the Wilfong Tournament in Puyallup. In only his 2nd year of wrestling Cesar has quickly become an outstanding wrestler. Cesar put in a lot of time during the off season attending wrestling camp and attending many summer wrestling tournaments. His hard work is paying off as he is off to a great start on the season winning 8 of his 10 matches. Week 2 & 3 - November 20th - December 2ndJake BameJake has got off to a great start in his freshmen year. In his first tournament he went 3-0 with 3 pins at the Auburn Mountainview Dual Tournament. He looks like he can push for a varsity spot later in the season. Matt ZimmermanMatt had a great week. He went 3-1 as our varsity 285lber. He really has stepped it up this year earning a varsity spot on the team. He looks like he is going to be a factor in the seamount league this year at 215 or 285. Week 1 - November 13th - November 18thNiko LorellaNiko has been working hard at practice. He is a member of the iron man club staying after practice everyday for extra conditioning. He has been active everyday learning as much as he can. With his athletic talent and work ethic he should make an immediate impact on the team. |
